During winter time fishing its very important to stay around areas that have lots of baitfish. The key for this winter has been matching the size of the baitfish you are around to get bigger bites. A rattle trap is a perfect match for the size of the small threadfin right now but the best bait has definitely been a small swimbait. The fish on the right weighs 10 pounds and just like my 12 last year it ate a 2 inch swimbait. During the winter time it is crucial to match the bait that you are fishing around. I am not saying you cant go out and throw a giant swimbait all day because you can definitely still do that but that smaller swimbait will get many more bites and in some cases bigger bites.
